Is art the great uniter?

One of the benefits of doing shows all over the country is that I get to meet some really interesting people. Last weekend at CraftBoston I met Marty and Kerri, a couple from New Hampshire. Marty, a fellow artist (he’s an author and illustrator) bought one of my MetalHeads – the stinky dog.

Yesterday I received an email from Marty.

Subject: Stinky Dog

Hi Deb:

It was great meeting you and seeing
your wonderful art in Boston last Saturday.
I've attached a photo of Kerri and me
enjoying our new piece of art, Stinky Dog.
After almost 20 years together, this is
the first piece of art that Kerri and I
have ever agreed on. I've been a full
time author/illustrator for over a decade
and Kerri won't even let me hang MY stuff
in the house. I have to cram it all in
my studio.

Thanks again.
Marty

Imagine, after 20 years of not being able to find common ground when it comes to art. And then the piece of art that you are both drawn to is a farting dog. Marty and Kerri, here’s to the next 20 years and I hope you find many more farting dogs along the way.
